Fuel Ethers: MTBE, ETBE, TAME and TAEE
One of the most popular solvent is MTBE (methyl tertiary butyl ether) or its counterpart ETBE (ethyl tertiary butyl ether) where methanol is replaced by bioethanol. Fuel ethers are blended into the gasoline pool as antiknock agent. Other fuel ethers are ETBE, TAME and TAEE.

CATALYSIS - Use of Polymeric Resins (pdf)
TREVERLYST catalysts have been developed to assure the highest conversion rates at the lowest temperatures possible.
Depending on the reactor configuration special screen cuts of the CHEMRA catalysts can be provided. For reactive distillation reactions the catalyst might be packed in bales or cages.
Recommended TREVERLYST catalysts for etherification reaction:
|TREVERLYST CAT350||Standard catalyst for etherification reactions. High selectivity, excellent stability against fouling.|
|TREVERLYST CAT351||Highest productivity, lifetime and conversion rate.|
|TREVERLYST CAT351/CB||Coarse bead version of TREVERLYST CAT351 for tubular reactors, bales or long running times.|
|TREVERLYST CAT352||Optimal catalyst for C5-C7 ethers such as TAME and TAEE.
Highest surface area and pore volume for improved activity for C5 and C6 etherification.
|Palladium doped catalyst||For TAME and other reactions where a multifunctional catalyst is required.|
